Nottingham Forest have confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new head coach, with the 54-year-old signing a contract that runs until 2027, the club announced on Tuesday.
Dyche replaces Ange Postecoglou, who was dismissed on Saturday after just 40 days in charge—a record that makes him the shortest-serving permanent manager in Premier League history. His departure came minutes after a 3–0 defeat to Chelsea, marking Forest’s eighth winless game of the season.
A former Forest trainee under legendary manager Brian Clough, Dyche returns to the City Ground as the club’s third manager of the season. It is his first managerial role since parting ways with Everton earlier this year.
“Sean Dyche is a respected and experienced Premier League manager,” the club said in a statement. “He brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen, and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter.”
Dyche will take charge of his first match on Thursday as Forest host Porto in the Europa League.
Postecoglou’s brief stint followed the sacking of Nuno Espirito Santo in September, after his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly broke down. Despite spending over £100 million on new players in the summer transfer window, Forest sit in the Premier League relegation zone with just five points from eight matches.
