
A 17-year-old boy, Lurwanu Suleiman, tragically drowned in open water on Tuesday in Dandalama village, located in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Kano State Fire Service’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
According to Abdullahi, the service received an emergency call from a resident, Malam Aminu Dandalama, at approximately 12:54 p.m. A rescue team was dispatched and arrived at the scene around 1:25 p.m.
“Unfortunately, the victim was recovered from the water without signs of life,” Abdullahi stated. He added that the body was handed over to the Ward Head of Dandalama, Alhaji Safiyan Usman.
The cause of the drowning is currently under investigation.
