Troops apprehend wanted Boko Haram/ISWAP informant in Borno

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested a suspected terrorist informant in Borno State.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on May 4, 2026, by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East).

According to the statement, the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Ali Muhammad, had been on the unit’s watchlist prior to his arrest.

“Troops of 254 Battalion under Headquarters Sector 2 apprehended a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad, at Ngamdu Market,” the statement said.

It added that the suspect was found with a sum of cash, a keypad mobile phone, a wallet containing identification cards, charms, a knife, and an exercise book reportedly filled with phone numbers linked to suspected terrorist contacts.

He has since been transferred to the Sector 2 Headquarters for further interrogation.

The military described the arrest as a significant blow to the intelligence network of terrorist groups operating in the area.
