Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have apprehended a suspected spy and killed two terrorists in separate operations in Borno State, as part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the North-East.

Personnel of the 198 Special Forces Battalion arrested the suspected spy on April 25, 2026, at about 21:40 hours during a surveillance mission near a parapet within their area of operations. The individual was reportedly spotted carrying out reconnaissance on troop positions before attempting to hide in nearby bushes.

According to sources, troops on routine patrol quickly moved in and detained the suspect, who failed to present any form of identification and refused to provide useful information during initial questioning. He is now in custody and undergoing further interrogation to establish his motives and any potential links to hostile groups in the area.

In a separate incident within the same theatre, troops foiled an attempted terrorist incursion near Buratai District in Biu Local Government Area. The confrontation, which took place late on April 25, led to the killing of two terrorists. Soldiers also recovered a motorcycle and ammunition after the attackers retreated in disarray.

Military authorities stated that although the security situation remains dynamic, it is being closely monitored. They also reaffirmed that troop morale and operational effectiveness remain strong as counter-terrorism operations continue across the region.
