Bandits have taken the life of Nasiru Mohammed Anka, a lecturer at Zamfara State College of Education, Maru, despite the payment of a N2 million ransom.

The tragic incident occurred three weeks ago when Anka, along with other residents, was abducted in Maru town, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

A woman who managed to escape from the bandits’ captivity revealed that she witnessed the lecturer’s killing. She narrated that she found an opportunity to escape when the bandits were intoxicated and asleep. Additionally, she mentioned that two days after Anka’s death, the bandits attempted to mutilate some of his vital body parts. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, they decided to abandon the corpse.

The woman shared, “After subjecting him to numerous blows on his head with guns and other forms of punishment, he couldn’t survive, and he died.”

She further explained that the bandits repeatedly demanded more money from Anka’s family, claiming that the initial N2 million was insufficient. The tragic incident has led to mourning among students and lecturers of the institution.

The funeral prayer (Salatul Gha’ib) for Nasiru Mohammed Anka took place on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Gida Dari, Gusau.
