The Zamfara State Government has firmly stated that it does not intend to engage in dialogue or negotiate with terrorists or any other criminal group. The previous peace dialogue initiated by former Governor Bello Matawalle’s administration was halted in September 2021 due to continued bandit attacks on rural communities within the state.
Speaking to reporters in Gusau, the state capital, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Nakwada, emphasized the government’s determination to confront and eradicate criminal elements in the state. The current administration is dedicated to maintaining accurate record-keeping, transparency, and accountability in governance. Nakwada issued a warning that any public official failing to uphold these principles in the discharge of their duties would face appropriate consequences.
