Kwara State Polytechnic has officially distanced itself from the two suspects, Vandora Favour Oreoluwa Davies and Joseph Joy Adama, who were publicly presented as individuals involved in the murder of a club owner, Adeniyi Ojo, in a hotel located in Ilorin, Kwara State.
During their public presentation on Wednesday, October 11, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Adama claimed to have completed her National Diploma (ND) program at Kwara Polytechnic prior to the incident. In response to this assertion, the institution, through its Public Relations Officer, Halimat Garba, released a statement on Thursday, October 12, stating that the suspects are not students of Kwara State Polytechnic.
The statement reads:
“The management wishes to disassociate itself from the discrediting and malicious news about the institution. The suspects paraded in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, are not students of Kwara State Polytechnic.
“Our database check has confirmed that these two individuals had been withdrawn from the institution after their first year due to poor academic performance. Consequently, they are no longer enrolled as students in our esteemed institution.
The polytechnic management firmly emphasizes that its students are renowned ambassadors of the institution, the state, and Nigeria as a whole, and they are not associated with disgraceful or criminal activities of any kind.”
The late Adeniyi Ojo, aged 52, was the son of the well-known and affluent socialite, Chief Emmanuel Ọjọ, who owns a chain of upscale hotels in the state.
Additionally, it was noted that Adeniyi Ojo was an associate pastor at one of the Winners Chapel branches in Ilọrin. His eldest daughter had recently graduated as a medical doctor from the University of Ilọrin. He had addressed the congregation about four Sundays prior, mentioning his initial reluctance to his father’s decision to relocate to Nigeria from one of the African countries.
