Bukola Olopade, Director-General of the National Sports Commission, has assured that President Bola Tinubu’s promised $100,000 reward for each Super Falcons player will be fully paid.
President Tinubu made the pledge after the team clinched their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title in Morocco on July 26. The reward package also included $50,000 for each technical crew member, three-bedroom apartments in Abuja, and national honours for the players.
Earlier, team captain Rasheedat Ajibade had expressed concerns that the players had yet to receive the promised rewards and match bonuses.
In an interview with New Telegraph, Olopade confirmed that all tournament bonuses have been paid except for “one or two” players experiencing banking issues. He emphasized that the President’s pledges will be honoured in full.
Olopade also revealed that arrangements for the Abuja apartments are underway, with ongoing discussions between the Ministry of Housing and the Renewed Hope Homes initiative.
