Gunmen have kidnapped Pastor Friday Adehi of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria (CEFN) Church and a church member, Brother Gabriel Ezekiel.

The victims were abducted shortly after a church service on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Reports indicate that the two were traveling on a motorcycle along Ajegwu-Ojodu road in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State when they encountered the kidnappers.

According to The Guardian, Adehi and Ezekiel had attended a naming ceremony for another church member after Sunday service and were returning to their residence in Itobe when they were seized at gunpoint.

An eyewitness recounted, “The incident occurred between 3 and 4 pm on August 24th when the two were riding from Ojodu to Itobe, accompanied by another man. The kidnappers, lying in ambush, suddenly appeared and stopped them at gunpoint, forcing them into the bush.”

Local vigilante groups, working alongside the military-led joint task force, are currently tracking the kidnappers.

Community members have also launched an initiative to clear bushes along the main road from Itobe to Anyigba to prevent further ambushes, supported by donations from philanthropists, including Dr. Simeon Oyigu.

Meanwhile, the CEFN Church and other Christian communities have called for prayers and fasting, seeking divine intervention for the safe release of the abducted church members.
