FG has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays to mark the Eid-il-Fitr celebration.

The Federal Government has announced Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to celebrate Eid-il-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government. In a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister urged Muslims to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice practiced during Ramadan.

He also encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the nation’s peace, unity, and continued progress.

Extending his goodwill to the Muslim faithful, the minister wished them a joyful Eid-il-Fitr celebration and advised citizens to celebrate responsibly while showing kindness to the less privileged.

The statement further reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
