The Kano State Hisbah Board has arraigned two women and a man before a court over alleged immoral activities at the Sheikh Muhammad Nasiru Kabara Housing Estate, popularly known as Bandirawo Housing Estate, located along Daura Road in Kano.

The suspects were reportedly arrested during an operation led by CSH Hafizu Garba Adakawa.

One of the suspects, 30-year-old Khadija Ahmad from Rimi Local Government Area, was arrested at an apartment within the estate where she was said to be living with her children.

According to the Hisbah Board, Khadija informed investigators that the apartment had been temporarily entrusted to her by another woman who travelled to Egypt.

The board alleged that she admitted some of the rooms in the apartment were occasionally rented out for prostitution-related activities in exchange for payment. She also reportedly claimed that similar activities were common in parts of the neighbourhood.

During the operation, officials also arrested Ali Abubakar, a 35-year-old fish seller from the Kano Cooperative area, and Fatima Abubakar, a 28-year-old woman from Niger State.

Ali and Fatima were allegedly found together inside one of the rooms in the estate.

According to the board, the pair told investigators it was their first involvement in such an act and pleaded for leniency, promising not to repeat the offence.

The suspects were later arraigned before a court presided over by Judge Malam Sani Tanimu Hausawa at the Hisbah Board premises for further legal proceedings.

The board reiterated its commitment to tackling activities it considers immoral across Kano State.
