Suspected Fulani militias ambush and k!ll woman in Plateau community

A woman has been killed in an attack allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani bandits in Batok 2 Village, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on August 28, 2026, when troops of Sector 6, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to reports of sporadic gunfire in the community, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.

The troops deployed to the area and conducted a search of the surrounding vicinity, where they discovered the body of a local resident identified as Mrs Helen John.

Preliminary findings indicated that the attackers allegedly ambushed the victim after hiding in a nearby maize farm close to her residence. She was reportedly attacked while carrying out household chores.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

The victim’s remains were subsequently handed over to community leaders for further necessary action.

Security forces have launched efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible, while patrols and surveillance have been intensified across the community and neighbouring areas.
