
The Anambra State Government has declared Friday, November 7, 2025, a work-free day for all civil servants in the state.
The directive, which takes immediate effect, comes ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
This announcement was made in an official statement released on Thursday, November 6, by the Head of Service, Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe.
According to Mrs. Igwegbe, Governor Chukwuma Soludo approved the work-free day to allow civil servants ample time to travel to their respective voting locations and participate fully in the election. She noted that the initiative aims to promote active civic engagement, describing voting as both a civic duty and a vital contribution to the advancement of good governance and democracy.
In her statement, the Head of Service directed all political appointees, permanent secretaries, and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies to notify their staff and ensure strict compliance with the directive.
