Manchester United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Turkish side Trabzonspor to loan out goalkeeper Andre Onana for the remainder of the season.
Despite expressing a desire to stay and fight for his place, the Cameroonian international could be on his way out following United’s recent signing of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in an £18.4 million deal.
Onana, 29, has yet to feature in any of United’s three Premier League matches this season, with Altay Bayindir currently occupying the starting spot between the posts.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that a loan deal has been agreed between the two clubs, but the final decision now rests with Onana, who must choose between seeking regular playing time in Turkey or continuing to compete for his place at Old Trafford.
Having missed most of pre-season due to injury, Onana initially intended to reclaim the No. 1 jersey. However, the offer of consistent first-team football at Trabzonspor presents a tempting alternative.
While the English transfer window closed on Monday at 7 p.m., the Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, September 12—leaving time for a potential move to be finalized. Trabzonspor, currently second in the Turkish Super Lig, are not involved in European competition this season.
