In this tragic event, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe State claimed the lives of at least 21 mourners, primarily children and women. The incident occurred in Goni in Mittiri village near Gumsa town in Geidam local government area on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. 18 individuals lost their lives instantly, with three more succumbing to their injuries at General Hospital in Geidam. Boko Haram has been increasingly targeting civilians, farmers, and herders in recent times, as reported by sources. Spokesperson DSP Dungus Abdulkareem of the State Police Command confirmed that 20 people had been verified as deceased in the Monday attack.
