Suspected ISWAP terrorists have killed the village head of Kinnari, a remote settlement in Damasak, Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.

The attack took place on Friday night, August 1, around 9:00 p.m., when insurgents stormed the village and fatally shot the traditional leader, 65-year-old Goni Kinnari, with a rifle, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.

In response, troops from Operation Hadin Kai, supported by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, quickly mobilized to the area and successfully repelled the attackers.

The village head’s body was evacuated to the General Hospital in Damasak, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His remains were later handed over to family members for burial according to Islamic rites.

Security patrols have since been intensified in and around Kinnari village to prevent further attacks and to reassure residents.
