The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to activist and former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, with the bail set at N10 million and one surety in like sum.

In his ruling, Justice Musa Liman specified that the surety must be a responsible individual with landed property valued at no less than the bail amount. The court further required the surety to provide the original documents of the property, a passport photograph, and an affidavit of means.

Additionally, the judge ordered Sowore to surrender his international passport to the court’s Deputy Registrar. He was given 24 hours to fulfill the bail conditions or remain in police custody.

Sowore had been arraigned by the police on Wednesday on a 16-count charge, which includes allegations of cybercrime. One of the charges claims he referred to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as an “illegal IG.”
