The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared 41-year-old foreign national Elie Bitar wanted in connection with a cryptocurrency fraud scheme linked to the online trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).

According to the EFCC, Bitar is being sought for his alleged involvement in a fraudulent operation that exploited the CBEX platform, deceiving unsuspecting investors across Nigeria.

A statement from the Commission reads: “The public is hereby notified that ELIE BITAR, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) platform.”

EFCC’s ongoing investigation into CBEX has uncovered a series of transactions tied to Bitar and other individuals, some of whom have already been arrested.

The Commission also disclosed that Bitar’s last known address is located at “Eng. George Enemoh Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos State.”

EFCC has urged anyone with information on Bitar’s whereabouts to report it at any of its zonal offices across Nigeria, including Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja.

Earlier in April, the CBEX platform collapsed, resulting in an estimated loss of over ₦1.3 trillion from investors, leaving many Nigerians financially devastated.
