Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has condemned the negative portrayal of the Fulani people across Nigeria, calling it both unwarranted and unjustified.

During a visit from the Kano chapter of Tabital Fulaku International, the governor, represented by his Deputy, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the organization’s efforts to unite the Fulani community nationwide.

Gwarzo highlighted the crucial role of Fulani leaders in mentoring younger generations, urging them to stay committed to their leadership and support for the community.

“The Fulani community has made invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s development, producing prominent political leaders, academics, technocrats, legal experts, and security chiefs. Notably, a Fulani man currently serves as the National Security Adviser,” Gwarzo noted.

Addressing the negative media portrayals of the Fulani, Gwarzo emphasized their significant contributions to the nation’s agricultural and economic sectors. “It is disheartening that some media outlets tarnish their image. The Fulani have played a key role in agriculture and other vital sectors. They are the herders who sustain our economy. Such negative portrayals are completely unjustified,” he said.

He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to address the misrepresentation of the Fulani’s history and contributions. Gwarzo also urged Fulani associations nationwide to unite and collaborate in protecting their rights and ensuring their rightful recognition.

“I encourage you to work with stakeholders to preserve and promote the Fulani’s image,” he concluded, advocating for a more inclusive and respectful media narrative that acknowledges the Fulani’s essential role in Nigeria’s progress.
