Gunmen Kidnap President of Ohaneze Youth Council

Gunmen have abducted the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, in Imo State.

The armed men, dressed in black and traveling in a Sienna and Lexus SUV, kidnapped Igboayaka around 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Works Layout in Owerri.

Chilos Godsent, the President of the Igbo National Council (INC), confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, calling on the Imo State Police Command to take immediate action to identify the gunmen.

“On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 7:00 pm, we received the distressing news that gunmen, dressed in black and numbering up to seven, arrived in a Sienna and Lexus SUV and forcefully abducted the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, in a Neo-Mafia Gestapo manner at Works Layout in Owerri, Imo State,” the statement said.

“Since the incident, numerous attempts by members of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), family members, friends, and associates to contact him have been unsuccessful, as all his mobile lines were switched off immediately after the abduction.

“The Igbo National Council (INC) urges the Nigerian Police Force, Imo State Command, to take immediate action to identify the gunmen who abducted Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka on the evening of Saturday, February 8, 2025, in Owerri and make their findings public.

“The INC also noted that his followers, family, friends, and associates are in confusion and are eagerly awaiting information on his whereabouts.”
