“I’d rather die than take Jesus out of my profile,” Spyro says as he opens up about pressure in the industry to abandon his faith.

Nigerian singer Spyro has shared a pivotal moment in his career when his faith came under pressure from within his own circle in the music industry.

After parting ways with his former record label in 2019, Spyro embarked on a solo journey, funding his career through personal and bank loans. Without any external financial support, he leaned heavily on perseverance, hard work, and—most importantly—his faith in God.

But not everyone around him shared the same conviction.

Spyro revealed that some members of his team advised him to tone down his overt Christian identity, warning that his strong “Jesus Boy” branding could limit his mainstream appeal and earning potential. They even urged him to remove “Christ Ambassador” from his social media profiles.

“I remember saying I would rather DIE than remove Jesus from my profile,” Spyro recalled. While he acknowledged their concerns, he made it clear he wouldn’t compromise on his beliefs.

One individual went as far as suggesting he switch to a more neutral term like “Child of God,” but Spyro stood his ground, insisting that the name of Jesus would be the key to his breakthrough.

Today, his story has taken a different turn. Spyro says those same individuals who once doubted him are now reaching out to celebrate his success. “A lot of artistes are suffering now — no deals, no shows — but you are in a very good place and I am proud of you,” one of them reportedly told him.
