Nigeria’s Super Falcons clinched a 4-0 victory against Ethiopia in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games second round qualifiers on Tuesday, October 31 in Abuja. Rasheedat Ajibade scored twice, while Uchenna Kanu and Asisat Oshoala each added a goal to secure their spot in the third round with a 5-1 aggregate score, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Addis Ababa last week.

After strong defensive play for most of the first half, the Falcons broke the deadlock in added time when Kanu received a long pass, evaded her markers inside the box, and slotted the ball beyond the goalkeeper.

In the 50th minute, Ajibade made it 2-0 by firing the ball into the net after Oshoala delivered a low cross from the right.

Oshoala added the third goal with a fantastic header off a cross from Kanu in the 68th minute. To complete the victory, Oshoala notched her second assist of the game by setting up Ajibade for her second goal in the 72nd minute, making it 4-0.

The Falcons are now set to face the winner between Uganda and Cameroon in the third round of the qualifiers.

The last time the Falcons participated in the Olympics was in Beijing 2008.
