Jigawa Police apprehend three individuals believed to be notorious car thieves.

Jigawa State Police Command operatives have apprehended three notorious car thieves and successfully recovered three stolen vehicles, according to a statement by the assistant spokesperson of the command, ASP Abubakar Isah, on Monday, December 11, 2023.

One of the recovered vehicles belonged to Dr. Abdullahi Dogo, a Technical Adviser to the Governor of Jigawa State. Dr. Dogo reported the theft of his Toyota Corolla with Registration No. KHS 96 AA JIGAWA from Yantifa market in Dutse LGA.

Following the report, the police swung into action, and on November 21, 2023, they detected a suspicious movement of a FAW VITA with Registration No. KWL 274 AS Abuja in the Investment area of Dutse metropolis. Subsequently, Abdullahi Sani and Faruk Adamu were arrested during a cordon operation, and upon searching them, nine different master keys, various plate numbers, and mechanic tools were recovered.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being car thieves and admitted to stealing Dr. Abdullahi Dogo’s Toyota Corolla a fortnight earlier. The investigation also revealed their boss, known as Abubakar a.k.a Dan-fulani, residing in Kano state, who they identified as their main receiver.

Acting on the instructions of the Commissioner of Police, CP AT ABDULLAHI, the Divisional Police Officer of Dutse Division intensified efforts, leading to the arrest of Dan-Fulani (Muhammed Sani) in Kano on November 22, 2023. Detectives recovered the stolen Toyota Corolla and another suspected stolen vehicle with Registration No. RBA 585 CE ABUJA.

The investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse, and upon its completion, all suspects will be arraigned in court to face legal consequences.
