The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has seized 277 cartons of counterfeit and unregistered Malamal Forte malaria drugs worth over N1.2 billion during a raid on a warehouse in the Ilasa-Oshodi area of Lagos State.

According to the agency, the fake medications were concealed in cartons labeled as Diclofenac Potassium 50mg and were illegally imported from Shanxi Tianyuan Pharmaceuticals Group in China. The drugs were falsely declared as spare parts in the shipping container to evade detection.

NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, reaffirmed the agency’s dedication—supported by the Presidency and the Federal Ministry of Health—to eradicating counterfeit and substandard medicines from Nigeria.

This seizure is part of NAFDAC’s ongoing nationwide operations aimed at protecting public health and ensuring that only safe, quality medicines reach Nigerians.
