The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has said the identities of those responsible for the attack on the Angwam community last Sunday, March 29, have not yet been determined.

Governor Mutfwang made this known while speaking to journalists after a meeting with Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, April 1. He explained that the visit was to brief the President on the incident and outline steps taken by the state government so far.

Describing the attack as unfortunate, the governor said the situation has now been brought under control. He noted that victims’ bodies have been evacuated to the mortuary, while some families have already buried their loved ones. A curfew was imposed and later relaxed on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

He added that there was an attempt by looters to disrupt the peace earlier that day, but security forces were able to restore calm by noon, and the situation remains stable.

Mutfwang emphasized that the cause of the violence is still unclear, noting that crises of this nature often stem from multiple factors. He said authorities have yet to apprehend the attackers, making it difficult to determine their identities or motives. He, however, condemned the incident, describing it as a criminal and barbaric act.
