
The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a suspected armed robber and kidnapper who allegedly concealed a pistol inside a loaf of bread.
In a statement issued on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, revealed that the suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, 24, was intercepted by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) during a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba.
According to SP Edafe, the suspect’s suspicious behavior prompted the officers to conduct a detailed search, which led to the discovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously hidden inside the loaf of bread.
“The Delta State Police Command has once again demonstrated its commitment to proactive and intelligence-led policing through the arrest of a suspected armed robber and kidnapper in possession of a fabricated Beretta pistol cleverly concealed inside a loaf of bread,” the statement read.
The suspect, a resident of Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital, Asaba, was immediately taken into custody. The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit, while investigations are ongoing to determine his possible involvement in recent armed robbery and kidnapping cases in Asaba and surrounding communities.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the arrest as evidence of the Command’s sustained intelligence-driven operations.
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to identify, arrest, and prosecute criminal elements regardless of their methods, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police.
The CP further assured the public that all reports would be treated with utmost confidentiality, reiterating his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Delta State.
