Presidency Denies Reports of Vice President Shettima Being Barred from Presidential Villa

The Presidency has firmly denied recent media reports alleging that Vice President Kashim Shettima was denied access to the Presidential Villa, calling the claims “totally fabricated” and “a wild expression of wishful thinking.”

In a statement released on Saturday, April 19, Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), described the reports as part of a “deliberate and well-orchestrated campaign of falsehood” by certain blogs aiming to create confusion and suggest a rift within the Presidency.

“The latest in this string of disinformation is a report claiming that the Vice President has been refused entry to the Villa. This is a feeble attempt to traduce the person and office of His Excellency, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON. For the record, nothing of the sort ever happened,” Nkwocha stated.

He dismissed the allegations of military barricades and restricted access as completely unfounded, saying they were “so far removed from reality” that only those unfamiliar with the structure of Nigeria’s government could believe them.

“The recent publication by some obscure blogs alleging that armed military units have blocked the Vice President from accessing the Villa is the wildest expression of wishful thinking. It’s a tale born from exhaustion—of both ink and imagination,” Nkwocha added.

The Presidency also addressed earlier reports about alleged campaign posters of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for the 2027 elections, calling them another baseless attempt to incite political tension.

“It is understandable—though regrettable—that mischief-makers continue to underestimate the strength of the bond and mutual respect between the President and the Vice President,” Nkwocha said. “These fairy tales serve no purpose beyond mischief and distraction.”

Reaffirming Vice President Shettima’s dedication to his role, the statement emphasized that he remains focused on supporting President Tinubu in delivering on the administration’s mandate and will not be drawn into what it described as a “media circus.”
