Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the suspended representative of Kogi Central Senatorial District, has declared her intention to resume legislative duties in the Senate on Tuesday, July 8.
She made the announcement while addressing her supporters, who gathered to celebrate a recent court ruling in her favor.
“I thank you for your unwavering support. I am grateful for this victory. By the grace of God, we shall return to the Senate on Tuesday,” she said.
Last Friday, July 4, Justice Anita Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja fined Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan ₦5 million for contempt of court following a Facebook post that was found to have breached a previous court order.
However, the court also nullified her six-month suspension from the Senate, ruling that it was excessive, unconstitutional, and violated the rights of her constituents.
