“The North Will Celebrate My Presidency – Peter Obi”

Peter Obi, a 2027 presidential hopeful and former Labour Party candidate in the 2023 elections, has expressed confidence that the northern region of Nigeria will celebrate his leadership if elected president.

Obi, who is also a key figure in the emerging opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the statement during an appearance on Channels Television on Sunday.

He emphasized that Nigeria’s greatest untapped asset lies in the 19 northern states, which possess vast arable land and significant voter strength. However, he lamented that the region’s potential has remained largely unrealized due to persistent insecurity.

“We have voted for incompetence, we’ve voted based on tribe and religion—now it’s time to vote for competence,” Obi stated. “I want the North to trust me. The biggest asset of this country is in the North—the uncultivated lands. The criminality we face in the region today, I will deal with it. If I become president, the North will celebrate me. I understand the problems and I have solutions.”

Obi’s remarks highlight his campaign’s focus on security, agricultural development, and inclusive governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
