Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has expressed that he is not afraid of anything, emphasizing that the worst that could happen is for him to leave office.

Fubara made this statement on March 3, just days after the Supreme Court reinstated 27 Rivers State Assembly members loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Acknowledging that the Supreme Court’s judgment had dampened the spirits of many in Rivers, Fubara urged the people to stay strong and prepare for what lies ahead.

Speaking at the commissioning of the reconstructed Rivers State Government House Staff Quarters, the governor acknowledged that, as humans, the decision of the Apex Court might have disturbed some, but he advised them to trust that God’s purpose would prevail.

“Our support is not dependent on anyone but on God. I want to thank you for your support and assure you that if there’s anyone on this Earth who will stand by you, it is me,” he said. “I assure you I will lead with honor, respect, and integrity, knowing that when I leave, I will have questions to answer. If I’m called upon in 20 or 30 years, I want to proudly defend my position. Thank you, and I promise I won’t disappoint you.”

He further added, “While I don’t condone violence, when the time comes for a decision, I will lead the charge. Let me say it again: I am not afraid of anything. The worst that can happen is leaving office. But am I leaving the earth? Will it stop me from existing? I’m not bothered by that. What matters is that the right thing is done and said when given the chance. Thank you, especially to our youths. Stay strong, don’t be discouraged. At the right time, you will hear from us.”
