The Kano State Police Command has apprehended a notorious serial car thief, Saminu Mohammed, along with three other suspects. In addition, they have successfully recovered three stolen vehicles.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, made this announcement on Friday, October 13, 2023, revealing that Saminu had previously faced court arraignments on three separate occasions for similar offenses.

Kiyawa elaborated on the recent operation, stating, “On 11/10/2023 at about 0340hrs, a team of Surveillance Patrol attached to the Anti Car Theft Section of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Command, while conducting an Intelligence-led Operation along Hausa Road, Sabon Gari Quarters, Kano, intercepted two motor vehicles: a Toyota Rav-4 in Ash color with Registration Number BNK 305 DT and an unregistered Toyota Corolla, both coming from the same direction under reasonable suspicion.”

“When questioned, the two suspects were unable to provide satisfactory accounts of the vehicles and attempted to escape. However, one Saminu Mohammed, ‘m,’ hailing from Daura LGA in Katsina State, a notorious serial car thief who had faced court arraignments three times for the same offense by the Kano Police Command, was pursued and apprehended, while the other suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled. Both vehicles were recovered, and the owners were identified, with the investigation currently in progress.”

“Likewise, on 07/10/2023 at about 0300hrs, a team of surveillance patrol attached to the Eastern Bypass Area Command, during their round-the-clock visibility patrol at Panshekara Quarters in Kano, intercepted a blue Toyota Corolla motor vehicle with Registration Number SMK 908 HX. “Following the investigation, the suspects confessed to having stolen the aforementioned vehicle from Abuja.
