
The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested three suspects for their involvement in oil pipeline vandalism, oil theft, and the illegal trade of petroleum products. The arrests took place in Umuowaga Umuelechi Obuzo Asa, within Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.
Following credible intelligence, the NSCDC’s Anti-Vandal Patrol team quickly responded and uncovered large quantities of petroleum products believed to have been illegally siphoned by the suspects. The arrested individuals are Oscar Eteobong, 37, from Abak Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State; Isaac Aniete Edemba Udoh, 40, from Obot Akara Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State; and Emmanuel Uzoma Sunday, 20, from Isiala-Ngwa North Local Government Area in Abia State.
NSCDC Commandant in Abia State, Akinsola Aderemi, confirmed the arrests and stated that investigations are ongoing to track down others involved in the criminal activities. He condemned such actions as a direct threat to the nation’s economy and reassured that the Corps remains committed to eliminating criminal activities across the state and beyond.
Commandant Aderemi also issued a stern warning to those engaging in illegal operations, urging them to cease or face legal consequences. He called on the public to assist the NSCDC by providing credible information to help combat criminality.
These arrests highlight the NSCDC’s dedication to protecting national assets and ensuring that those responsible for these illegal activities are brought to justice.
