Regrettably, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has passed away. The governor, who had been contending with leukemia and prostate cancer, breathed his last in Lagos on Wednesday, December 27, at the age of 67.
Late Akeredolu had been under the care of State House doctors in Lagos as his health condition prevented him from being transported abroad. He had returned to Nigeria in September after a three-month medical sojourn in Germany. On December 12, following President Bola Tinubu’s directive, he took another medical leave and handed over the reins of power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who has been serving as the acting governor since then.
The departed governor is survived by his wife, Betty, children, and grandchildren. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
