Trump Says Israeli Strike on Iran “Very Likely”

U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted that Israel may be preparing a military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, underscoring growing tensions in the Middle East and the potential for a major escalation.

Speaking during a press briefing at the White House, Trump addressed speculation over possible Israeli action, stating, “I don’t want to say it’s imminent, but it looks like something that could very well happen.” He stressed, however, that diplomacy remains a priority, and that military conflict might still be avoided if Iran agrees to further concessions in its ongoing negotiations with the United States.

“Look, it’s very simple. Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “Other than that, I want them to be successful. I want them to be tremendous. We’ll help them succeed, we’ll trade with them, we’ll do whatever is necessary.”

Despite his firm tone, Trump reiterated his preference for a diplomatic solution, highlighting the efforts of his Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, who is currently engaged in negotiations aimed at preventing armed conflict.

“I’d much prefer an agreement,” Trump added. “If I think there’s a chance at a deal, I don’t want [Israel] going in — because I think it could ruin it. It might even help it, but it could also blow it.”

Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official stated that Tehran remains firm on its right to enrich uranium and revealed that Iran had been privately warned by a “friendly” nation about the possibility of an Israeli strike.

The remarks come as speculation grows that Israel may take preemptive action to prevent Iran from reaching the capability to produce a nuclear weapon, further heightening concerns over regional stability.
