Rufus Lee Cooper III, better known as Young Noble from Tupac Shakur’s iconic rap group Outlawz, has died at the age of 47.
His death was confirmed by fellow Outlawz member E.D.I. Mean, who shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, revealing that Noble died by suicide.
“Today I got some of the worst and most unexpected news imaginable. My brother and partner for over 30 years took his life this morning,” E.D.I. wrote. “Rest in Power, Rufus ‘Young Noble’ Cooper.”
He also used the moment to raise awareness about mental health, urging others to check in on loved ones: “Mental illness is a real battle being fought by so many. CHECK ON YOUR FOLKS!”
Tupac Shakur’s official Instagram account, managed by his estate, reshared the tribute in honor of Noble’s legacy.
Born in Sierra Madre, California, Young Noble joined the Outlawz in the mid-1990s after forming a close connection with Tupac. He quickly became one of the most prominent voices in the group, known for his loyalty, lyrical sharpness, and dedication to upholding Tupac’s vision after the rapper’s death.
His passing has sparked an outpouring of grief and reflection across the hip-hop community, with fans and peers remembering him not only as an artist, but as a brother, mentor, and resilient figure in rap history.
