Nigeria’s accomplished female striker, Asisat Oshoala, has clinched the 2023 CAF Women’s Player of the Year, setting a new record with her fifth win. The 27-year-old striker, instrumental in Barcelona Femeni’s triumph in the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season, surpassed competitors Thembi Klagtlana of South Africa and Barbara Banda of Zambia to secure the award on Monday, December 11, in Morocco. Notably, Oshoala, a nominee for the 2023 Ballon d’Or, has now become the first woman to achieve this prestigious accolade for an unprecedented sixth time.
