President Bola Tinubu has declared that ongoing insecurity in the country will not discourage him, reaffirming his intention to seek a second term in office despite prevailing challenges.
Addressing the issue, the president suggested that some political opponents are attempting to capitalize on the security situation to weaken his leadership.
“My adversaries want to use insecurity in the country to push me out, but I remain resolute and will campaign for a second term,” Tinubu said.
His remarks come amid persistent concerns over security in various parts of Nigeria and have sparked renewed debate about his past positions on the issue. Before assuming office, Tinubu was an outspoken critic of previous administrations, particularly regarding their handling of insecurity.
He also supported the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, which drew global attention after the 2014 abduction of schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State—an incident that occurred in the home state of Vice President Kashim Shettima and continues to feature in political discourse.
