
A 16-year-old girl, identified as Salomi Ishaya, was killed by unidentified assailants while returning from a river in Luwaran village, Kawam District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred at about 7 p.m. on October 4, 2026, after troops of Sector 1, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), stationed in Jengre, responded to a report of an attack in the community.
According to the sources, the troops arrived at the scene and found the victim’s body, while the suspected assailants had fled.
The victim’s remains were evacuated and deposited at the mortuary of the SDA Hospital Mission in Jengre.
Security personnel, working with Keystone Security operatives in Jengre, have launched efforts to identify, track and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
The motive for the attack remains unclear, while investigations are ongoing.
