Manchester City have officially announced the permanent addition of Kolo Touré to Pep Guardiola’s first-team coaching team.

The club confirmed in a statement that the 44-year-old Ivorian will serve as a first-team assistant coach, a role he initially held during City’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign this summer.

Touré, who won Premier League titles as a player with both Arsenal and Manchester City, made a strong impression last season as Assistant Lead Coach for City’s Under-18 squad. Alongside Lead Coach Oliver Reiss, he helped guide the youth team to the Premier League Under-18 North title, while reaching the national final where they narrowly lost 1-0 to Aston Villa. The team also finished as runners-up to Villa in the FA Youth Cup final.

City highlighted Touré’s extensive coaching background, which includes work with the Ivory Coast national team, as well as coaching roles at Celtic and Leicester City under Brendan Rodgers. Prior to joining City’s Academy setup, he also managed Wigan Athletic.

His promotion to Guardiola’s senior coaching staff is regarded as a natural step, bringing valuable defensive insight and leadership qualities to the Etihad dressing room.
