The Federal Government has raised concerns over the increasing display of immoral behavior by students during “sign-out” celebrations in both tertiary institutions and secondary schools across the country.
Speaking at an enlightenment campaign on government policies, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, called for urgent collaboration among all stakeholders to address what he described as a troubling trend.
Issa-Onilu, represented by the Director of Human Resources at NOA, Mrs. Ayisola Olowoyo, said many students now use sign-out events as a cover for indecent conduct, which undermines national values and the integrity of educational institutions.
“The Federal Government is deeply concerned about the growing trend of immorality among students,” he stated. “Celebrating academic milestones is commendable, but turning these celebrations into occasions for exposing or touching private parts within school premises is unacceptable and against our national ethics.”
He noted that one of the core reasons behind the upcoming launch of the National Values Charter is to promote discipline and reinforce moral standards across all sectors of society.
Issa-Onilu urged parents, teachers, and school administrators to play active roles in curbing this behavior by guiding students towards more respectful and value-driven ways of marking their academic achievements.
