Fresh Babcock Graduate Found Dead in Hostel

The Ogun State Police Command has opened an investigation into the sudden death of a 20-year-old recent graduate of Information Technology from Babcock University, Ilisan Remo.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the deceased, identified as Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, was brought to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital by his roommates on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, where he was pronounced dead by the attending physician.

According to police detectives who visited the scene, one of Boluwatife’s roommates, Adili Leonard Chimdindu, revealed that the deceased had complained of cold and difficulty breathing on July 27 and was advised to seek medical attention at the University Medical Centre.

He explained that they were on campus to finalize their clearance ahead of graduation, and Boluwatife had planned to return home shortly after.

Adili added that Boluwatife appeared well the night before his death, spending time playing games on his laptop until about 11:00 p.m. He was found unresponsive the following morning.

Authorities documented the scene and recorded a statement from the deceased’s elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John. The body has been deposited in the university morgue for autopsy and preservation.

The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine the exact cause of death.
