The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested five Nigerian suspects accused of trafficking 57 Nigerian nationals into Ghana under the pretense of job offers and educational opportunities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the CID named the suspects as Joel Nosa, Collins Rotimi, Shadrack Lulu, Austin Amahuaro, and John Uloko. They were apprehended at Adom Estates, Community 25, during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Police Operations Unit.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a human trafficking ring that lures young men and women from Nigeria to Ghana with false promises of employment and education. Upon arrival, the victims, aged between 18 and 26, were coerced into participating in online romance scams and other illegal cyber activities.

Police seized 77 laptops, 38 mobile phones, two vehicles, three televisions, and other internet-enabled devices believed to have been used to facilitate the crimes.

All 57 victims have been rescued and are currently receiving necessary care and support, while the suspects remain in custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Police have warned the public—especially young people—to be cautious of job offers, educational opportunities, or travel arrangements made via social media or other unverified channels.

Reaffirming their commitment to combating human trafficking and cybercrime, the Ghana Police urge anyone with credible information on such activities to report to the nearest police station.
