The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has revealed that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), under his leadership, inherited a debt of N8,987,874,663 upon taking office.
Ganduje made this disclosure during the ongoing National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, state governors, NWC members, and other key party figures.
In his address, Ganduje described the inherited debt as “legal liabilities” arising from expenses related to pre-election legal battles, election cases, and appeals for legislative, governorship, and presidential elections.
“The current NWC inherited a total of N8,987,874,663 in debts and legal liabilities, resulting from various legal engagements,” Ganduje stated.
He also highlighted that the National Legal Adviser, Prof. Abdul Kareem Kana (SAN), has been working to reduce the debt through dialogue and alternative dispute resolution methods.
Ganduje appealed to the NEC for intervention, stressing that some of the party’s accounts are still garnished.
“We earnestly appeal to the National Executive Committee to intervene as needed,” he pleaded.
