Nigerian comedian Destalker has revealed that before achieving fame, he once attempted to engage in internet fraud but quickly gave up because he “didn’t have the heart for it.”
The comedian made the disclosure during an episode of the In-House Gist podcast, where he shared insights into his early struggles and moral choices.
According to Destalker, the friend who introduced him to internet fraud has since become a pastor. He recounted how they used to pay for late-night browsing sessions at cyber cafés, but while his friend was busy trying to scam people online, he would spend his time chatting with old schoolmates on Facebook — and often fall asleep.
In his words:
“Before I left Enugu, I tried internet fraud with a friend who is now a pastor. We would do night sessions at cyber cafés for ₦250. While he was looking for who to scam, I would be chatting with my family and friends. I couldn’t do it. I’m too kindhearted.
It was not my destiny. I can’t defraud anyone. Today, the story has changed — nothing can stop me from achieving my goals.”
Destalker further revealed that some comedians once tried to block his rise in the industry, but he remained determined to succeed without their help.
He added that many of those who attempted to hinder his progress are now no longer relevant in the comedy scene.
