Mohbad: Naira Marley and Sam Larry Granted N20 Million Bail by Court

Singer Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, have been granted bail by a Magistrate court in Yaba. The court’s ruling on November 6th stipulated that they must post bail in the amount of N20 million and provide three responsible sureties.

As part of the bail conditions, Naira Marley and Sam Larry are required to surrender their international passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Additionally, they must secure three sureties with a similar sum. The presiding magistrate also issued a warning that any attempts to directly contact her would be documented and potentially disclosed during open court proceedings.

The legal proceedings against Naira Marley and Sam Larry stem from accusations of physically assaulting the late singer Mohbad. They were initially arrested and remanded in custody upon their return to Nigeria on October 4, 2023. Subsequently, they filed a lawsuit against the Magistrate and Police over their prolonged detention. The lawsuit, brought before the Federal High Court in Lagos, names the police and the magistrate as defendants, with each seeking N20 million in damages.
