Nigerian rapper Oladips has alleged that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) extorted ₦10 million from him before securing his release.
Speaking on the Trending Podcast, Oladips recounted his arrest in November 2024, claiming that although nothing incriminating was found on him, he was detained for five days along with some of his neighbours who were picked up during a midnight raid in his estate.
Describing his time in custody as dehumanising, the rapper said:
“It’s just one smelling place like that. They packed us there like sardines and gave us nonsense food. Funny enough, it was Zlatan that was sending me food. Zlatan is not even a friend — that’s my blood.”
Oladips added that despite his innocence, EFCC officials still demanded money before his release.
“They didn’t find anything on me. Not even a single thing. Yet they still collected ₦10 million from me before they released me.”
When asked if he intended to take legal action against the agency, he responded:
“Who is my father? At the end of the day, who is my father? It’s just me and my truth. If they are watching this, they know I’m saying the truth. They didn’t find anything on me. So what was the money for? What was all that stress and suffering for? It’s just Nigeria — Nigeria just happened to me.”
