Nigeria’s headline inflation rate eased to 21.88 percent in July 2025, down from 22.22 percent in June, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported.

According to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, this marks the fourth consecutive month of disinflation in 2025, reflecting a 0.34 percentage point decline from the previous month.

On a year-on-year basis, inflation dropped by 11.52 percentage points compared to the 33.40 percent recorded in July 2024.

However, the NBS noted that month-to-month price growth slightly accelerated in July, with the headline inflation rate rising to 1.99 percent from 1.68 percent in June. This suggests that while overall inflation is slowing, prices still increased at a faster pace during the month.

The report identified food and non-alcoholic beverages, restaurants and accommodation services, and transport as the main contributors to July’s inflation.
