US President Donald Trump has revoked the security clearances of several prominent Democrats, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, various members of the Biden administration, and others.
This action follows Trump’s announcement last month that he was rescinding former President Joe Biden’s security clearance.
In a memo released on Friday, Trump confirmed that he was also revoking the security clearances for the entire Biden family.
“I have determined that it is no longer in the national interest for the following individuals to access classified information,” the memorandum stated.
The move prevents the named individuals from receiving classified briefings, such as the President’s Daily Brief, and from accessing classified information held by the Intelligence Community, a privilege they had due to their previous roles in Congress.
Also included in the list of individuals losing their security clearances are former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Republican lawmakers Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, and Fiona Hill, a former Russian affairs adviser during the first Trump administration.
Additional names on the list include Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, Andrew Weissmann, and Alexander Vindman.
Previously, Trump had revoked the security clearances of over 40 former intelligence officials, accusing them of interfering in the 2020 election in Biden’s favor, though he did not provide evidence to support these claims.
In 2021, Biden, as the sitting president, denied Trump access to intelligence briefings, citing concerns over his “erratic behavior.”
