Security sources disclosed that the incident occurred at about 12:40 p.m. on October 28, 2026, when troops of the 202 Battalion, 21 Special Armoured Brigade, intercepted the suspected insurgent as he approached them to surrender.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported the development on Sunday, November 1.

Preliminary investigations reportedly revealed that the suspect had escaped from a Boko Haram enclave around Bula Daloye in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

According to the sources, the suspected fighter fled the camp without a rifle before making his way towards the military troops to surrender.

He is currently in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
