President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service, in recognition of their exemplary service during the 2020–2023 service years.
In a statement delivered on Tuesday, July 29, during the combined President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony in Abuja, Tinubu also announced a cash reward of ₦250,000 for each of the 200 honorees. The President was represented at the event by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.
Additionally, Tinubu directed that 10 physically challenged ex-corps members—who sustained various disabilities during their service—be offered federal employment. He praised their sacrifice and assured them that their contributions to the nation would not be forgotten.
“I have directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission to commence the process of their immediate employment,” Tinubu stated.
The President also announced that all 200 award recipients, including those with disabilities, will receive full scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in any Nigerian university.
“In appreciation of their service to the nation, all the awardees will receive ₦250,000,” he said. “Each award recipient will also be granted a scholarship to pursue postgraduate programs up to the degree level in any university in the country.”
The ceremony honored the best-performing male and female corps members across the nation, with Tinubu commending their discipline, patriotism, teamwork, and commitment to national development.
